Egg Biryani Recipe


Biryani is the most popular and the most common recipe in the South of Asia. Both, in India and Pakistan, people enjoy the spices and Biryani comprises of rice based foods made of Basmati rice, spices, eggs, meat, chicken, fish or vegetables. The dish originated from the Indian city of Hyderabad and was incorporated into the Hyderabadi cuisine during the rule of Nizam of Deccan. For the most authentic flavors, Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani is the famous all over the world. However, egg biryani is an equally popular recipe, where eggs are used instead of meat or chicken with the same spices. This egg biryani is an easy to make recipe which can be followed and a delicious egg biryani can be made at home in no time. This simple egg biryani can be served at dinner parties with raita, fresh green salad, and thinly sliced onions.
For the egg biryani you will need the following ingredients: one kilogram of Basmati rice, ten hard boiled eggs, two small sized onions, 2 cups of yogurt, 4 chopped tomatoes, 6-8 green chilies, 2 bay leaves, 1 tablespoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 5 piece of cloves, 5 piece of cardamom, 3 green cardamom, 8-10 black pepper, 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1 inch piece of cinnamon stick, 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder, 2 teaspoon of ginger garlic paste, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and salt to taste.
Now for the method, first step is to wash the Basmati rice and then soak it for at least thirty minutes. Next, in a pan heat the oil and add onions. Sauté the onions until golden brown and then remove all the onions from the pan and spread them on an absorbent.
Next step is to shell the boil eggs and put four long cuts on the white portion of every egg without separating them.
Then, heat oil in a pot and add bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, black pepper, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, salt (according to taste), lemon juice, green cardamom, green chili, yogurt and sliced tomatoes. Cook until it is done and the oil begins to separate.
Next step is to add the boiled eggs in the gravy mixture. Mix it well till the eggs gets coated with the spices completely.  Now, remove the eggs from the pot and set them aside. Then, add about one liter of water in the gravy and let the gravy to boil. Now, you should add the soaked rice and cook it over a medium heat till the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Lastly, sprinkle garam masala powder over the rice, add eggs and then mix them well.
Your delicious, tantalizing egg biryani is ready to be served. Serve it hot with raita, fresh green salad, and thinly sliced onions.
